No - but I do use Manuka honey from New Zealand, which has fantastic antibiotic properties. There is a Margaret Hills Diet which uses cider viegar and honey and I wonder if this is where honegar comes from? xx

Hello Lou,
Today i bought some honegar, i will start tonight, it tastes ok to me, the woman in Holland and barretts, reckoned it was a best seller? i will give it a go, its quite natural so i dont think we need to ask Rheumy.
I also bought some Manuka honey, and wow was that expensive, i love honey on toast, i thought if the honegar was to bitter i would use the honey, bought Almond butter sounded nice not sure what i can do with it other than put it on bread, may try in a cake? all suggestion's welcome! let me know how you get on.
Anne-m xxx
opps p.s The women in H/Barrets said you only need to add a little water, and she uses warm water.

I spent a fortune on the Margaret Hills stuff (about £50 a month) and it didn't help at all. She recommends in her book "Curing Arthritis the Margaret Hills Way" that we drink cider vinegar and eat honey - in addition to all the potions and supplements you have to purchase from her company! She also recommends we chuck out the RA drugs - bad move, in my opinion! However, I have found the Manuka Honey excellent and although it's expensive, tastes wonderful. I find it is great when I have a sore throat and it is scientifically proven that it has antibiotic like properties. It's also great on burns!!!

Hi Jean, is Margaret Hills another diet guru? I have not heard of her,I will google, lol I am glad you all said as i have only bought a small bottle, i am as i type eating manuka honey on toast is delicious.
I would never stop meds without advice from Rheumy, i would be worried i would go back to day 1.
p.s i thought she was some one on the fourm, thats why i was confused, it dont take much these days.
Chat soon,
Anne-m xx

Hi all. I wouldn't trust anyone who tells you to stop taking your RA meds. I do take antioxidents and they definitely make me feel better in myself but not really helping with the pain.

Margaret Hills is most definitely a fake...
That is not to say that other remedies and alternative meds may help but it will never cure such an illness.
Manuka honey is excellent, I have tons of it here and cod liver oil is very beneficial for RA.
Any other herbs, homeopathy must be taken with caution. I do take herbs but have done for many years and will now usually take them to relieve other problems like anxiety, sleeplessness, panic etc.
That said, I am also taking Milk Thistle (liver protector, breast milk producer!!) and devil's claw...

Hi,
Thanks for asking!
There are a few really helpful natural remedies;
* Bach rescue remedy- probably better for panic/shock but quite good at calming;http://www.bachshop.co.uk/?gclid=CIfa5-a3uKoCFRRC4Qod_lsi5A
* Valerian or verbena herbs- you can buy a tincture or take it in tablet form;

(For problems sleeping take before bedtime- it helps insomnia too)
* Drinking chammomile tea sweetened with honey- this does help calm one down and feel more peaceful. You can also buy a mixed tea- I drank a mixed tea of chammomile, rose, nettles and raspberry leaf whilst expecting and it was very calming and nourishing.
Love,
Amanda

hello all i see you try 'manuka honey', look up 'nectar ease' i have been using this for over a year now, i send off to new zealand for mine far cheaper, this is what is in 'nectar ease', it is genuine manuka honey with bee venom , bee venom is a natural cortisone, this is how i found out about it. i chap put bees on his knees (he had ra) as he was in so much pain he wanted to end it, but he found the bee stings took the pain away instead, if you need more info i would be willing to give my e mail or phone no out. as i said i have been taking 1 spoonful per day. i get all our manuka honey and nectar ease direct from NZ it is cheaper in the long run. kind regards david r

I love Manuka honey......but after talking to some local bee keepers who said that it has been very cleverly hyped and that there are plenty of more local honeys available that are just as good, I began to rethink. I tried lots of good quality honeys from various small producers and I have to say that Exmoor honey is fabulous and is very similar to Manuka. I'm sure there are lots of other good ones about too. Somebody told me that eating the local honey - in other words the honey produced from the flowers in your locality - helps to combat hay fever. I don't have hay fever myself but my girls really suffer, so I think I'll give it a try next year. Sylvia xx Be kinder than is necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
